I use this pharmacy reasonably frequently and have found the counter staff to be consistently friendly and helpful. I do become slightly annoyed when they chat about non-work matters to the dispensing pharmacist, thus distracting him or her from concentrating on filling the prescription for which I am waiting. However, I am more concerned about the business practices of the pharmacy; I had a prescription filled this week and was told by the counter staff member that it was the final repeat. I was a bit surprised by that, but I can accept that this was probably correct information. However, stapled in the same folder was a prescription which did have a repeat outstanding, but this was not returned to me. While I accept that this was simply a (hopefully) one - off example of human error, I was most perturbed that when I queried it by telephone on the following day, I was told that the pharmacist would need to retrieve the actual paper prescription, and would phone me back. Not only did I not receive the promised phone call, but when I went into the pharmacy 3 days after my phone call, I was told that the pharmacist had printed off a duplicate sheet from the computer for the outstanding repeat, but that the actual prescription from the doctor could not be found, even though my query was for a transaction on the previous day. This appears to me to demonstrate very poor business practices and professionalism on the part of the dispensing pharmacists. What if a human error occurred in transposing the information on the original prescription onto the computer? Where are the checks for this? If I had a viable alternative, this experience would have been sufficiently potentially serious for me to use a different pharmacy.
